Class Experience
BE A COLD CASE DETECTIVE - In this ongoing class, we will solve a murder mystery based off of the game “Unsolved Case Files.” You will be put you in the shoes of a cold case detective where you will be solving a murder that happened decades ago with only the original investigator's case file. Students will learn about evidence as they use critical thinking and problem skills to solve a murder. Additionally, students will be introduced to elements of criminal law. We will learn what different terms and phrases mean and how to apply them to the case at hand. The goal of this course is to have fun solving a murder while also learning the real-world processes involved in solving a murder.

While there will not be any graphic images shown, the topic of murder will be discussed. In order to do so, we will also have to mention if any weapons were involved and other details such as where an injury occurred. Other types of criminal activity may be mentioned as well if it is a part of the story line, such as theft, robbery, selling drugs. These are only mentioned briefly.
We will use the file from the game "Unsolved Case Files." The file includes: 50 investigation documents, photos, newspaper articles, crime scene photographs, fingerprint cards, phone records, witness statements, etc.
