This class is for students who have no knowledge of coding. This class will introduce young coders to the basic vocabulary used when coding and how codes run. Students will participate in a group setting and individually; in body coding, color coding, and play a coding game together in class. Students will create and problem solve codes during the class period. In addition, I will show students how color coding programs Ozobots. This will be a fun interactive way to get young coders started and seeing codes all around them. I have been trained by instructors at Code.org as well as teaching coding for 5 years to elementary students and they love it!
Learning Goals
Students learning goals for this class are to learn coding vocabulary like; code, workspace, run, program, loop, event coding and glitch. Students will take away that a code is a set of directions programmed by a Coder. Students will feel empowered by learning the basics to coding and programming.
