Students will improve their understanding of the importance of using their voices. They will be introduced to 5 elements of public speaking: Presence, Diction, Body Language, Engaging Content, and Delivery. Students will also be introduced to 5 tips for being good listeners: Look, Listen, Focus, Do Not Be Distracting, Grow & Glow.
I have worked with children as a Children's Ministry Director for over 8 years training them to perform on stage to recite scripture, pray, sing, and participate in plays and pageants. I also have 6 years of experience teaching presentation skills to children ages 6 through 12 in homeschool co-op classes. I studied and trained with Dale Carnegie's books and courses and used his expertise to develop curricula for children.
Students will apply learned skills as they introduced themselves and share one interesting thing about themselves with the rest of the class. The class will end with an interactive quiz in order to determine whether the goals of the class were met.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
