Class Experience
The key to success in learning any language is full immersion. In this class, students will have an opportunity several times a week to practice their French language conversations skills. Each week we will take 30 minutes to discuss a different interesting topic solely in French. Students are free to ask questions and to make use of dictionaries and search tools to find unfamiliar terms. Students are discouraged from reverting back to English when it is a challenge to formulate their thought. Rather they are encouraged to use descriptive words to complete their thought, thus reinforcing new vocabulary in their minds. Occasionally we will read new articles, books or discuss topics of interest. It is recommended that students have an intermediate level of proficiency in the language in order to participate in this course. Topics for discussion: Sports, the four seasons, Le Petit Prince, Family, Goals, our Hometown, Animals, Life in France, listen to French journalism, Identifying objects in French, Exercise, French way of living, Cars, French music, the environment, Joy, Early Bird vs. Late Riser, Breakfast Foods and much more.
