Ready.... Set... BUILD! Stretch your imagination & compete against your friends in this fun, one-time class. Each learner will be challenged to design & create a theme that you won't know ahead of time. You'll race against the clock and your fellow friends to build like a brickmaster! Based on the hit TV show on Fox, I will be your Brickmaster and you will be the builders as you come up with your own themed-creations using plastic building bricks of any type including but limited to: mega construx, minifigures (minifigs), mega bloks, mocs, duplos, blocks, rubber bands, lights strings, or other building supplies. The students will be given a randomized theme that they will have to build. We will spend a few minutes before build time to discuss ideas or helpful hints. The students will then have about 20 minutes to put their ideas to brick! They will race against the clock to get their theme built in time, and try to be as creative as possible in the process. Students are welcome to use other objects besides building bricks to use in their creation, but cannot have pre-built items brought to class. Everything must be built from the ground up. The students are welcome to discuss ideas or questions while building. Once our time is up, each student will be able to share their final design. I will then hold a private vote for the winner. The winner of each week will receive a prize, chosen by their peers! The GRAND PRIZE winner will receive $4 off a future class of mine! The 2nd PRIZE winner will receive $2 off a future class of mine! Each learner will have the opportunity to THINK, DREAM, CREATE, BUILD, SHARE, and INSPIRE! If time, at the end of class, I will share how to use a digitized version of the building process (more info available in the supply list section). *Note: This class is not to teach the students HOW to build certain objects from a manual; rather, how to use their own inspiration and creativity and put that to work building with bricks.* *This class is great for STEM learning, using science, technology, engineering, and math to put your theme together.* *Each student must build their own theme or scene. Parents and siblings can help give ideas or hand them pieces they are needing, but cannot build for them.* *Each student must know how to mute/unmute themselves as well as being able to type in the chat box, which will come directly to me during voting. If they need help with the chat function, please have someone to help nearby at the end of class.* *Feel free to jump in for one class, or repeat for many new ideas and options. The themes will change all the time and sometimes there are last minute twists and mini-challenges that are added.*
Learning Goals
Students will learn time management in building their creations in a timely manner. They will use the elements in STEM to creatively come up with strategies to build their theme. Finally, students will practice speaking in front of others to share their cool ideas and builds!
