Baton Twirling 1:1

Students can expect to learn how to choose a baton, hold and twirl a baton, and march while twirling parade-style.  There will also be tricks taught and resources for the next steps.  This course will give students a foundation for a majorette team try-out, working with a competition coach, or just fun and exercise.  I will demonstrate each part being explained and give lots of time for practice.  Students will follow along trying each part themselves.  By the end of the course students will be able to perform a simple routine with one or two batons.


  Each class will be formatted in this way:

1.	Greetings and check-in
2.	Review of previously taught skill
3.	Introduction and practice of new skill
4.	Putting them together
5.	What to expect next class and Goodbyes

It is recommended to purchase your baton or batons before class begins.

To measure for baton length, you can measure from the armpit to the end of the middle finger, or you can use the suggested guidelines listed below.

Suggested baton lengths by age:

Age 1-4: 18 inches
Age 5-7: 20 inches
Age 8-10: 22 inches
Age 11-12: 24 inches
Ages 13-14: 26 inches
Age 15+: 28 inches

If the twirler is tall for their age, add 1 to 2 inches.
If the twirler is small for their age, subtract 1 to 2 inches.
