Decades of arguments haven't solved the question of a generation... who would win in a fight, Batman or Superman? Students will be introduced to debate and persuasion tactics to introduce skills useful in any field, and the class will focus on these skills, such as identifying logical fallacies, supporting/citing information, and respectfully considering other viewpoints. This class will NOT focus on formal debate protocols; students will ultimately debate the question in a respectful conversation style more similar to a real-world conversation. Class One-- introduce the question, ask what topics may come up during a debate, what students can research to prepare. Class Two-- students use their prepared notes to debate each other and myself, to show what they researched. I will help students identify gaps in their preparation or logic so they can better prepare next time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
In a world of misinformation and "fake news", students who can logically discuss a topic will have advantages in their education and life.
Everyone must be able to express their ideas so they can be understood, my goal to is use the metaphor of comic book characters to help students learn the skills they need in their futures.
