Class Experience

**This course is only conducted June-August**

Hello! I am so happy you are here! In this one-time course, students will learn the history of July 14th, Bastille Day! This is also known as the French National Holiday, which is similar to the USA's Fourth of July. On this day in 1789, the storming of the bastille took place in France. This was a major turning point for the French Revolution. Join me in learning about the history and importance of this day and how it is still celebrated in France today.

This course will be conducted in English.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Erica and I have a passion for language, culture, and community!

I have obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In addition, I have obtained my Certification in Business Language; French, TEFL Certification, and a TESOL Certification. I also spent considerable time studying at the Jean Moulin Université in Lyon, France.

I began learning French at the age of 13 and have continued to practice and study the language and culture ever since. Because I began learning a second language at a young age, I have an understanding of how young learners process and develop a foreign language.

After living in France for an extended period and traveling repeatedly throughout Europe, I have developed an affinity for the culture. I have taken extensive coursework in European history and culture, as well as other francophone countries that are not located in Europe. My travels continuously take me back to these regions. Therefore, I am happy to offer additional courses in these subject areas, as well as integrate this knowledge into my French courses.

I have vast experience working with children both online and in person through teaching and tutoring French and teaching English as a Second Language(ESL). I have also worked with children as a dance teacher and gymnastics coach. I have been with children in all stages of life and understand the complexity of their developmental and educational needs.

Sharing my passion for language and culture and seeing my students learn and grow is the greatest blessing. I believe that we learn best when we have fun and interact with one another in a kind and compassionate manner. While lectures are occasionally necessary, I encourage interaction and student output throughout my classes. I strive to make my classroom environment a friendly and inviting space for students to feel comfortable and happy to be learning. My coursework typically involves work that is intended to be enjoyable and fun for the learners, all while gaining new knowledge.

I am so excited for the opportunity to work with your student!
