In this course athletes will become better basketball athletes by participating in ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding, defensive footwork, conditioning, agility, and coordination drills.

Description
Class Experience
Athletes will become better basketball players in this course. Each class will start with some warm-up drills. Athletes will participate in: Ball handling drills: Learn to dribble with both left and right hands while stationary and while moving. Switching the ball from one hand to the other. Fun and engaging drills and games will be played to reinforce these skills. Athletes will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball and improve their self-confidence.
Rich Santiago has been a PE teacher for the past 18 years. Rich has coached basketball at the elementary and middle school level for the past 20 years and led his Special Olympic team to 3 straight state championships.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Athletes should have an open area of about 15 - 20 feet, wear gym shoes, and have a water bottle. Parent supervision is important to minimize chance of injuries.
