Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
Beginner - Advanced Level
This 30 minute class is learner guided, so the class is based on learner ability and I am always looking for new ways to make Chess easier to understand.
In this class, learners will not only improve their communication, interaction, critical thinking and social skills; they will also learn the various strategies used in the game; as well as understanding why you make the moves chosen.
It is designed to improve thinking, reasoning, investigative, observational, active listening, taking turns and communication skills; which are needed in this game. so we will play lots of puzzles and various chess related games to get used to it's complexity

Games like Ship sailed, Guess my number, Number in my head; Tic-Tac-Toe, Bingo, Battleships, Reversi and Matching pairs; will be included to improve strategic thinking.
Being a good citizen is the main focus throughout; so learning how to take turns, how to behave around others and correct responses/reactions will be part of the content for each session.
There are 4 learning styles visual, audio, tactile and kinetic; most of us learn through each style evenly, whilst some of us maybe predominant in one or two; this class seeks to engage all learning styles!
Watch your child come out of class with lots of enthusiasm, motivation and very happy; looking forward to the next session!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been playing chess since the age of 8 and teaching it for many years. I am also reading specialist for more than 20 years and always looking for new ways to make math easier; because it is the part of reading that gets left out! I have been making up games since I was a teenager; so being able to design classes and games on Zoom for learners on Outschool; to help with their reading, English, Math and play; in their own time with their families and friends is an honour!
