Basics of Baking: The Cookie Class (Flex)
Class experience
In this course, we will cover the basics of baking four classic cookie recipes. Cookies are a great place for aspiring bakers to start because they are so easy to customize to one's own taste, they don't require any special tools, and they're quick, easy, and delicious. Starting with the basics helps build young bakers' confidence, and soon they'll be baking all sorts of sweet confections! Each week, I will post a video recipe that shows students step-by-step how to bake that week's cookie....
Students will learn the basics of baking, kitchen cleanliness, how to measure different ingredients, and will gain better time management and organizational skills through the practice of mise-en-place. At the end of the course, students will know how to bake four classic cookie recipes.
Supplies: Mixing bowls(2), spatula, bowl, baking tray, oven, microwave, egg separator (substitutions are okay), spoon, fork Ingredients: -Sugar Cookies: Flour, baking soda, baking powder, butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract -Snickerdoodles: Flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, eggs, vanilla extract, sugar, salt, cinnamon -Peanut Butter Cookies: Flour, unsalted butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, sugar, vanilla extract, egg, baking powder -Thumbprint Cookies: Butter, sugar, eggs, flour, jam/preserves
