Class Experience

Does your learner have an interest in learning about applying makeup but don't know where to start? Do you have a learner that has watched some TikTok videos and thought they could recreate those looks and it just doesn't come out right?

Then this class may just be the one for your learner. In our one time class, we will learn to apply a basic makeup look that will look professional and subtle. I will help your learner create the look and while we do, we will discuss each step and why we are doing it. As well as how to take care of our skin and the materials that we use to apply the makeup.

Every learner will need :
Face Primer (Optional)
Foundation
Concealer
Powder can be loose or pressed (Optional)
Blush
Bronzer (Optional)
Highlight (Optional)
3 complimentary colors of eyeshadow (matte close to skin color, light shimmery shade, and a darker shade)
white eyeshadow (You can use your highlight if you choose)
Eyeliner
Mascara
Lip gloss or balm
Mirror
Tools to apply the makeup

I didn't learn anything about makeup until I was at least 17/18 years old but I now have an 8-year-old daughter who is very intrigued by makeup. She is also heavily involved in cheer and dance so we have been applying makeup to her since she was 6 years old and this has increased her interest in her applying the makeup herself.
Learning Goals
Learners will gain a better understanding of the application of makeup and how to achieve a natural look after completing the class.

Parental Guidance
Learners will be applying makeup to their faces, so parents may want to be aware of what type of makeup they are using and if the learners have any sensitivities to it. Parents are also free to sit by during class to help and view but to just be off-camera per Outschool policy.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I’m Kelly Miller and thank you for showing interest in my classes. My passion is teaching in any form and always having fun in class. I also want to make sure all learners are able to be heard and have a chance to express what they enjoy about our classes.

I was an Emergency Medical Technician for over 20 years while in the Air Force which led me to be an EMT instructor trainer and CPR instructor trainer. I have a Master's degree in leadership and disaster preparedness/emergency management and a Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology. However, I am also TESOL certified and since retiring from the Air Force, I have been teaching English as a Second Language online and I have found a great love in it. The relationships that I have with my students are wonderful and I have found a passion for teaching children.

I am also a mom to a 19-year-old high-functioning Autistic high college freshman and a 10-year-old all-star cheer daughter whom I home school. I have a great passion for making learning FUN and ENGAGING! I believe that students learn best while having fun. So whether that is dancing, singing, playing games, or having fun by being silly, that’s what we will do. I can’t wait to see your student in the class.
