Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Welcome to London -- 2,000 years of history -- Let's break in down into bitesize pieces, and in this one-time class we will start with a focus on London history from 1300 to 1499. Often referred to as the Middle Ages or medieval times, we take a look at the kings who ruled and the wars that took place. There was plague and thousands died. There was a revolt and the peasants got their revenge. Famous names and unknown heroes lived during these times, and we can discover their contribution to history. We look at the famous War of the Roses. Geared to this age group, we cover the highlights of this time period in hopes of encouraging students to dive deeper into their history to discover fascinating facts.

Perfect for students without any background knowledge, geared to make history fun and interesting! In addition to lots of facts, students are encouraged to take notes or make drawings to reinforce learning. At the end, a pop quiz will help students recall the facts they have learned in the class. The instructor will teach using discussion, slides, images and an interactive map. Students are encouraged to ask questions along the way.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Originally from Texas, I moved to London in 2001 and my first job was as a double-decker bus tour guide. From there, I studied and worked in London, and created a tour guiding business specialising in providing tours to families who want to get the most out of their vacation. I have 15 years experience as a qualified tour guide for the City of London, Westminster, Camden, St Paul's Cathedral and Guildhall Art Gallery. (I hold an official badge for each of these areas/locations.) I also hold a teaching qualification for further education. My presentation style is dynamic and fun, always keen to find hidden and unknown stories of the past. Each corner of London has an incredible history to tell. On my tours, I dress in costume and use storytelling to bring history to life. Due to the pandemic, many of my tours have transformed to online presentations, and I am still able to reach customers from all over the world.
