Description
Class Experience
To discover and learn without realising it, because you are having fun! By the end of this course students will be able to explain where the different kinds of rocks are made and how they interact in the rock cycle. They will also be able to explain most rock forming processes and the Geological history and structure of the Earth.
I have a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Geophysics and have chosen the most interesting and exciting subjects to teach to get young minds fascinated by Earth Sciences.
None. Although (on request) students can be directed to other external sources discussing this area of Geology. I can also schedule a discussion group, or more advanced classes, if your child wants to explore this subject further.
None. Although (on request) the student can be sent a quick quiz on the lesson to test what they remember from the class.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some classes talks about Global Warming and Climate Change causing more frequent natural disasters. It also talks about mass extinctions including the possibility of humans causing one now (including ourselves) and has some drawn images of animals dying to become fossils. It is delivered in a upbeat manner with positive solutions (eg: switching to renewable energy), but some students may find these topics distressing. This class uses screen share to show PowerPoint slides with text and pictures. Some classes also show short videos. No other 3rd party tools are used.
