Class Experience

In this introductory geometry class, learners will explore fundamental geometric concepts and shapes. They will learn about lines, angles, geometric shapes, and their properties, and the Pythagorean Theorem.

Throughout this 16-week course, learners will acquire a solid foundation in Geometry. The course is complemented by Khan Academy, which provides additional resources for quizzes, unit tests, and support. The class is aimed at middle school learners or those preparing for High School Geometry.

I will supply learners with worksheets that correspond to the topics covered in class. Homework will be assigned every week and must be submitted before the next class. Learners can submit their homework in a PDF, scan, Word Doc., or image format.

During each session, learners will be asked to take notes on the topics and problems we discuss. We will work through math problems together as a group and individually. After each class, learners will receive handouts and homework assignments. Any questions or concerns will be addressed during the last five minutes of class. We will also review each learner's homework at the beginning of each session.

*This class moves at a fairly rapid pace, but the overall speed will depend on the class and how quickly learners progress. If the class as a whole is doing well on a topic, we will move forward. This course is also a bit more advanced for younger learners, so please enroll your child based on their math level.

*I am always available for messaging if learners require additional assistance.
*I provide guides and worksheets as necessary.
*I also offer one-on-one tutoring for students struggling with a topic.
*I wait 10 minutes for each class for learners to show up. If not, I will leave the meeting.*

Learning Goals
Welcome to the Basic Geometry course! In this class, our goal is to help you achieve a solid foundation in Geometry. By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

1. Understand basic geometric concepts such as lines, angles, and shapes.
2. Solve problems involving congruence, similarity, and transformations.
3. Calculate perimeter, area, and volume of geometric figures.
4. Apply geometry to real-life situations such as map reading and architecture.
5. Develop critical thinking skills by analyzing and solving complex geometric problems.

We will achieve these goals through a combination of lectures, class discussions, and hands-on activities. Learners will have access to a variety of resources, including Khan Academy, worksheets, and one-on-one tutoring.

To help us stay on track, learners will be expected to attend each class, complete homework assignments, and participate in group activities. By working together and supporting each other, we can achieve our goals and develop a strong understanding of geometry. Let's get started!

In addition to utilizing Khan Academy, a complimentary online learning platform, this course will incorporate Google classroom for viewing my self-produced lesson videos, which will be similar to my live lessons in classes. YouTube may also be utilized for this purpose, though communication between learners and myself is not possible on either platform due to communication restrictions. All interaction will be conducted exclusively through Outschool and live meetings.
