Learners will practice speaking skills as they play the classic game of Candyland in this course. They will learn and review phrases like: "It's my turn." "It's your turn." "It's ...'s turn." "I got one blue." "I got two reds." "Where is...?" "Can you see...?" "I won!" After a brief hello and introduction period, the teacher will screen share the game board. Each learner will choose a simple shape (heart, star, check, arrow, etc.) to be their movable pawn. The teacher will show the learner whose turn it is a card on the video feed. The learner will say "I got..." and move their piece accordingly. Peers are welcome to help learners who need more support. The teacher will help by prompting, clues, and body language when learners need help. Encouragement and praise will help to keep learners motivated and engaged. Whenever possible, learners will be the ones speaking and the teacher will act as a guide. Learners can expect to learn or review basic colors, the numbers 1 and 2, game-based phrases and words, and how to play the game when the class finishes.
