Computer Skills for Online Learners
In this course, students learn computer skills needed to take live online coding courses, complete writing assignments, create presentations, store and share files, and search the internet effectively and safely. Included are free-to-use resources that students can access outside the class to learn more on their own. This course features instruction on Google web applications like Google Docs, so a Gmail account is required to participate. Students who do not have a Gmail account already will be instructed to create one. 

Prerequisite Knowledge:
Students are expected to know how to operate a computer mouse, how to do basic typing (hunt-and-peck typing is okay!) to enter text on a keyboard, and should be familiar with basic computer and internet concepts. Students should be comfortable opening a browser window, navigating to a web page, using the main parts of the Zoom interface like Chat and Screen Sharing, and should be capable of following verbal and written directions. Students may also have experience using Google to search or typing in documents but they are not required to know this. All students are required to have access to a Google account to take this course. If students are lacking some basic computer skills, we recommend taking our Basic Computer Operation for Beginners course first.
