Class Experience

The class will begin with a quick introduction (of the participants and their Heroes) and a brief explanation of classroom expectations (2 minutes). When you enroll, you will have access to the Hero cards. Please look through the Hero Cards with your child before class and post your choice in the classroom. This lets other Heroes know that the character has been claimed and makes it possible for me to prepare the characters before class, maximizing playtime.

The adventure will begin with the setting of a tavern in Rivenshore, the village where the Hero Kids live. When they learn that a young boy has fallen into a hole below the basement, the Hero Kids will jump into action to save him! The Hero Kids must work together to battle putrid rats and solve some tricky problems to rescue the young boy. Do they have what it takes?
Heroes need to have taken my intro class or have played before so that that they understand the basics of the game and get the most out of their adventure. Once the adventure is complete, we will have a few minutes to debrief and talk about possible adventures for the future!

A very special thank you goes out to Justin Halliday, the creator of Hero Kids for permission to use the game! It's not necessary to purchase the game to play this adventure but if you'd like to buy the game to play at home, you can do so at drivethrurpg.com

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Laura. I have a master's degree in elementary education and love to teach! I've been a third-grade, fourth-grade, and fifth-grade teacher; I've also taught middle school science. I love teaching math and science! I enjoy teaching math because it's a subject in which I struggled as a child. I understand that some students may find math difficult and I take the time to help each student learn to find their point of confusion! Once a student knows how to find where they're stuck, they can use it anytime they feel lost. I like to design lessons in which I am a facilitator and the students talk as much, if not more than me. I live in Texas now but lived in Europe for 6 years! I have a 15-year-old cat, I've been married 10 years, and I have a 6-year-old son. I hope to meet you soon!
