US Grade 5 - 8
Students will play MLB trivia using the Kahoot! program. The questions will have a theme each week, and students will have an opportunity to chat between each question. My goal is to have a fun, relaxed atmosphere in the classroom where students won't stress about doing well with the trivia, but will have fun chatting, making friends, and learning new baseball knowledge. Whether your child is just learning about the game, or is a pro at sports trivia, they'll leave with a greater understanding and appreciation for America's pastime. Class Schedule & Theme: Jul 14 - Franchise Names, Mascots, and Location Changes Jul 18 - Speedsters - Steals, Base-running and Defensive Stars More classes to be added as we proceed through the schedule, and students will help choose the subjects for upcoming classes.

Hello and welcome!
My name is Benjamin Edwards, and I love to teach.
I have a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in education. I worked for eleven years with children ages 3-16 at a recreation center and YMCA in my hometown. I then taught for three years in middle and high schools. I've spent the last four years teaching online to students worldwide. I work best with students in the 9-18 age range.
While I have many interests that I enjoy sharing with my students - American pop culture, music of the 1980s, 20th century films, reading the classics, teaching guitar, playing chess -
my passion is HISTORY. I live to share my knowledge of the past, its role in shaping modern culture, and the challenge of bringing the people and places back to life in the mind of a student.
I believe that the student should not just learn the material, but begin to love to learn the material, looking forward to each class and leaving them wanting to learn more on their own about the subject after class has ended. I believe that one of the essentials of a great teacher is connecting the past to the present in the lives of their students.
My courses will consist of short lectures, often containing video/audio clips, followed by student discussion and analysis.
I'm excited about the opportunity to share my knowledge, and I look forward to meeting your child and beginning an educational adventure together!
