My goal is to create a meaningful, comfortable, social learning environment where students discuss interesting topics and connect with each other. This is a discussion-based class that helps students build speaking and listening skills. Students will compare and contrast players and teams, analyze statistics, and discuss the current happenings in the MLB. Students will build communication skills while having fun and making friends! Here are some examples of discussion topics: Who is the best player in the MLB? Do professional baseball players get paid too much or too little? What's more important? A player who hits for average or power? Is velocity or accuracy more valuable for a pitcher? Should the National League and American League play by the same rules? What are the pros and cons of switching to electronic umpires? Students will have plenty of opportunities to share their input and listen to others. Class topics will be largely learner-led. It is strongly recommended that students have an intermediate or advanced knowledge of baseball and the current MLB.
