Band Instrument Lessons

Students can take lessons on their instruments from a retired band director. Instruments taught include: flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion, and bass guitar. We can start from the beginning or broaden skills like sight-reading, scales and range, or work towards performance of solos, audition music, or playing tests. When working on specific material, students need to be able to scan and send the music to the teacher. Students will be grouped by playing level, not necessarily age or grade. i.e.: beginners will be grouped together. Learning goals will be student directed, based on their progression on their instrument. In the first meeting, we will assess where the student is in their learning and set goals from there. Students will need their instrument and instrument supplies such as reeds and valve oil, and their method book if they have one. Suggested supplies include a metronome and tuner, both of which can be downloaded as a free app to your phone.
