Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
In this weekly Ballet class, we will learn beginner Ballet technique, vocabulary, and have fun dancing! No previous knowledge of Ballet is expected or necessary, this class is designed for Beginners. Below you will find information for the upcoming Spring 2025 Schedule.

This is a structured Classical Ballet class that will follow a similar format every week. Ballet classes are rooted in repetition to help with proper placement and understanding of the technique. Each week we will discover new ways of moving through the steps and also use our imaginations to keep the learning environment fun and exciting!

Students are welcome to "drop in" whenever it best fits their schedule as all steps will be reviewed in each class. Please see below for the weekly breakdown and class structure.

Class Structure:
1. We will begin with 'Share Time' where students will get to meet one another through a "Question of the Day" and make friends!

2. Next, it's time to dance! We will start with a seated warm-up and then dive into specific Ballet steps. We will review and practice foundation steps and also use our imaginations to achieve proper Ballet technique!

3. Mid-class we will have a short water break followed by thoughtful Ballet stretches.

4. Next, it will be time to test our skills moving around the room and across the floor! Students will get to explore different ways of moving, including changing directions, and using their creativity to find joy in Ballet.

5. If there is time at the end of class, we will either play a game or learn a short fun Ballet dance! We will always end class with a goodbye follow along dance to one another.

Parental Guidance
Since Ballet is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk and injury that can occur with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of debris and clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely and safely. Having a water bottle or water near is important in case your learner gets thirsty during class (we will take a short designated water break during class). Safety is my #1 priority as a teacher, so let's make sure your learner is in a safe environment so we can have fun dancing together!
Supply List
You should be in a space cleared from clutter and debris so it is safe to move about freely. Bring some water or a water bottle in case you get thirsty! Dance clothes that are comfortable to move in as well as ballet shoes, socks or bare feet is fine.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
