Students will learn through hands-on participation in dance instruction. The class will be divided into 4 sections as follows. Intro/Hello- 2 minutes Warm up- 10 minutes Center Floor- 10 minutes Locomotive Moves and Combinations- 20 minutes Cool Down- 5 minutes Goodbye - 2 minutes
Students will learn basic dance movements, from across the floor activities to simple dance moves that they will be able to use in a wide variety of ways.
I have been a dancer for 17 years, and I taught a kindergarten dance class for one year in highschool. With that, I've done quite a bit of informal teaching when friends asked me how to dance. With years of practice and my friends as unknowing guinea pigs, I've learned how to break down dance moves into small steps that are easy to understand and perform. In teaching dance, I've also learned how to string those steps together so you can have a combination of dance moves that are easy to use to almost any music.
Students should come to class wearing comfortable clothes that they can move around in, eg: leggings, sweatpants, or basketball shorts; socks or bare feet; and a casual shirt or tank top. Students should also have a large enough space that they can spin, jump, lay on the floor, and generally be able to run across the room without running into anything.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
