Class Experience
IMPORTANT NOTE: SURGERY I will be having ankle surgery on January 26th. For the following 4-6 weeks, I will have a helper during classes. I will still be teaching, but my helper will be demonstrating and completing combinations with the students. Do you have a young dancer who wants to discover the magic of ballet, but has a mental or physical disability that makes it difficult? In this class, students who may feel uncomfortable joining a traditional ballet class are welcomed and celebrated....
I have been dancing since I was three, and I have taken ballet the entire time. I've also helped teach dance classes for 1 and a half years. I have been trained in a pre-professional program that stresses technique and safety. I know the correct way to perform and teach exercises to ensure the least risk possible. I’ve worked with kids with autism, ADHD, and some learning difficulties. I have not yet had the pleasure of working with any physically disabled students, other than students with speech delays and minor hearing difficulties.
Water bottle Space to move around (at least 4x4 foot square; possibly more if your student is in a wherlchair) A chair to use as a barre
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will send a message to students individually about their progress and anything they would like differently that would help them.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Depending on the student, they may need guidance or assistance Because this is a fitness class, students will need enough room to move around without injuring themselves. We will always do a warm-up and stretch before beginning, but it's important to be aware that inadequate stretching can lead to injuries. It is advisable for dancers to be barefoot to avoid slipping, and they may need a water bottle to stay hydrated.
