Class Experience
In this ongoing dance class, students of all experience levels are invited to join a positive and uplifting mentorship to benefit technical gains as well as connect with each other and learn more about classical Ballet as a profession. Curriculum: Each meeting will begin with an hour-long Balanchine & Vaganova hybrid classical Ballet barre and center. During our time together we will cover a range of beginning through intermediate positions, movement, and coordinations including the...
Students can expect to learn valuable lessons in teamwork, a deeper knowledge of classical Ballet and its history, how to build confidence for performance, and more about pre-profession training and a professional career, all while meeting weekly in a positive and uplifting atmosphere.
Minimal and optional homework will be assigned for this class. Please feel free to bring any and all questions you have about ballet, performing, summer intensives, pre-professional training, careers in dance, etc. for discussion! This will be an open space to talk further in depth about the ins and outs of the dance world. It is optional but suggested to have a notebook and pen for your record of any corrections/notes.
Materials: - Comfortable clothes you can move and stretch in - Socks or ballet slippers - A chair, counter, or sturdy surface to hold on to for barre work, about waist height - An open space to dance in safely, at least a 4 ft by 4 ft square - Water bottle - Notebook and pen - Any questions you have about dance!
If the student desires further assessment outside of class time, please direct any questions to me following class.
1 hour 25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please contact me in advance if you have any health or safety concerns for your learner. In this class we will move at a moderate pace together, monitoring our physical activity safely. I believe high quality training in the arts is important and should be affordable and available to everyone. Please reach out to me directly for more information regarding financial aid.
