Welcome to our ballet class! This short, fast-paced workshop is great for children who are interested in ballet but you are unsure if it will "stick", students with special needs, and students who may benefit from the benefits of ballet such as posture, coordination, focus, discipline, and exercise. No activities will be particularly feminized, so class is great for both boys and girls. Class will include: - Stretches (learn the basic ballet stretches) - Learn/practice basic positions (6th, 1st, 2nd) - "Across the floor" activities (ballet walks, leaps, skips, bourrees, etc.) There is no formal dress-code for this class, but students should wear comfortable clothing. Example clothing: -sweatpants and a t-shirt -leggings and a tank-top -leotard and tights -stretchy dress with tights Students may wear the following footwear for safety: -sneakers -bare feet (on carpeted surfaces only) -ballet slippers -socks Ballet students must have a few feet in each direction to move and should have their device angled so that they will be visible while dancing. This dance class will be positive and growth-focused! Students will only be expected to try their best and to have fun!!!
Learning Goals
Ballet students will gain a basic understanding of ballet movements, posture, and steps. After this class they will potentially be able to identify if they would like to take more ballet classes in the future.
