This class is taught in English.
Ballet II (Beginner-Intermediate Ballet) students will: -Improve their understanding of basic ballet stretches, as well as improve their flexibility -Learn about and demonstrate "proper ballet technique" (ex: tall posture, working stomach muscles, pointed toes, no "sickling" of feet, etc.) -Demonstrate an understanding of safety while dancing and stretching (ex: turning out from hips not knees) -Build upon their existing knowledge of ballet to increase the complexity of steps -Improve their ability to count the beats in music, notice fast vs. slow tempos, and move accordingly -Demonstrate focus and discipline during class (ex: listening and practicing while combinations are taught) -Cultivate a growth mindset focused on the self and not comparison to or competition with others -Build a fun and positive community with their ballet-dance loving peers :)

This beginner-intermediate ballet class is great for students who are neurotypical, neurodiverse, have Autism, ADHD, speech impairments, dyslexia, Down Syndrome, and many other disability classifications. If this class is too challenging after the first session, your child is welcome to continue if they feel comfortable or they can try out my Ballet I class (Beginner Ballet) for a few sessions to gain skills and confidence. Feel free to send me a private message to ask about your child's progress in class or you can evaluate by asking yourself these questions: -Is my child having fun in class? -Does my child have the names of most of the basic steps memorized? Ex: Plié, tendu, echappé, passé, pas de bourré, pas de chat, balancé, etc. -Does my child follow along during class with little or no prompting? -Does my child stand with tall posture (shoulders down, hips forward) during the majority of class? -Is my child able to take feedback and apply it to their dancing? Ex: If the teacher says "flag your feet" or "turn out your legs" -Can my child balance on relevé (tippy toes) for 20-30 seconds at a time and on one foot for 20-30 seconds at a time? -Can my child coordinate some of the more complicated steps? Ex: ballet walks, pas de bourré, pas de chat, etc. -Does my child have these basic positions memorized: first, second, third, fourth? -Would my child be able to maintain focus for a longer class?
