Class Experience

CLASS STRUCTURE:
We will start by working on detail and coordination through ballet exercises using the barre (you can use a wall/ chair/ any piece of furniture around waist-height, accessible in your home). We will work on musicality, strength, clarity and a more complex understanding of the dance discipline through the ballet lens. After we explore multiple exercises we will move away from the barre and go through a few center exercises. In the end there will be some time for discussion and answering any questions that might have come up during the class. After the class ends, I will encourage the learners to take some time to cool down the body and stretch in order to prevent future injuries (I can provide them with exercises to do on their own upon request).

THE MATERIAL AND CHOREOGRAPHY TAUGHT IN THIS CLASS IS DIFFERENT EVERY TIME IT IS OFFERED, SO THE SAME STUDENTS CAN TAKE IT MULTIPLE TIMES.

EXPERIENCE:
This class is designed for advanced students with years of ballet experience and training. I also offer an Intermediate level ballet class for students with less experience so if you are not sure if this class is right for your level or age do not hesitate to reach out and I will make sure we find the best fit that will serve your learner's individual needs.

SCHOLARSHIPS & DISCOUNTS:
(Please contact me for more info on how to apply for either of these offerings)
-All BIPOC students interested in my classes automatically receive a 50% discount off of every class they attend.
-If you are experiencing recent loss of income due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are unable to afford any of my classes, please don't hesitate to reach out and I will make any necessary adjustments to make the classes affordable to you.
-Mentorship scholarships are available for dancers demonstrating exceptional drive and commitment in their classes.

 MAKING DANCE ACCESSIBLE:
-These classes are for ALL and ANY bodies interested in investigating movement. If your learner has a disability feel free to contact me in advance and we can discuss ways we can make them accessible to them.
-Language: English doesn't have to be your first language to take any of these classes nor do you need to be proficient in it (In fact it's not my first language either!). Just make sure you let me know in advance so that I find other creative ways to communicate with your learner as they are taking the class.

Please refer to my profile for Frequently Asked Questions.

Parental Guidance
Just a few logistics before we get started: It is nice to join the zoom meeting a few minutes early (if possible, otherwise no worries) so that I can help you with your setup. Just make sure you are wearing comfortable clothes (if you have ballet attire, that's great, but if not that is totally fine). Find a room with some space to move (you may have to move some furniture around and make sure there is no cords or things you might trip over) and place your device on the floor so I can see your full body as you are moving. Other than that you are all set and ready to get moving!
Supply List
-Soft ballet shoes if accessible, otherwise socks can work
-Comfortable clothing
-Water bottle, if desirable
-Ballet Barre (if you don't have a barre you can use a wall/ chair/ any piece of furniture around waist-height, accessible in your home)
