If you have a little ballet dancer at home than this is the perfect ongoing class to help build their foundation of ballet knowledge and their love for the art form. Each class, dancers will learn and practice basic ballet steps while also building confidence in themselves and their abilities. This class is perfect for an online platform and is designed to not need an exorbitant amount of space without sacrificing quality of the learning experience. Young dancers will love the sing-to-learn...
Each class will reinforce fundamental steps of ballet such as pliés, tendus, piqués and more with the aim for dancers to build up a robust and age appropriate ballet vocabulary and understanding. Dancers will also become familiar with the famous stories of ballet through our short story time that will end each lesson.
I have been dancing since I was three years old and have performed across the US and Canada in 5 national tours and at 2 theme parks. Most recently, I passed my Royal Academy of Dance Advanced Foundation exam in 2019. I have been teaching dance since 2012 and have taught students of all ages and abilities. I have particular experience teaching younger age groups as I was previously a preschool teacher.
There are no supplies dancers need to bring but they should be dressed in comfortable clothes that they can move in. If dancers would like to wear ballet shoes they are very welcome to, but bare feet are perfectly fine as well. No socks please as they can cause slipping. It also never hurts to have a water bottle handy.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
The safety of your dancer is my highest priority and they will always be supervised and participating in age appropriate exercises that cater to their developing motor skills. However, it should be noted that this is a physical fitness class and a certain amount of risk comes with any dance art. This class in particular is designed so that dancers will be sitting, standing, and moving in place for much of the time but it is advised that dancers have a clear area around themselves to avoid any accidental collision with furniture while kicking or moving their arms and legs. It is always a good idea for dancers to have a water bottle handy to stay hydrated. For this class, dancers are welcome to wear ballet shoes, but also may be bare foot. I request that dancers do not wear socks as they can cause slipping.
