Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
Train like a professional with expert guidance from a choreographer and artistic director who has worked with Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, American Ballet Theatre (ABT), Twyla Tharp, and Alvin Aileyโ€™s Robert Battle. With experience teaching at top performing arts schools and institutions like Northwestern University, Ballet Tech, and the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, I bring over 20 years of professional expertise to help dancers refine their technique and artistry.

This class is designed for serious ballet dancers looking to refine alignment, precision, and controlโ€”key elements that elevate performance quality. We will focus on:
	1.	Turnout Mechanics & Hip Placement โ€“ Understanding proper external rotation and how to activate the correct muscles for improved turnout without unnecessary strain.
	2.	Core Stability & Balance โ€“ Strengthening the deep core muscles to improve control in adagio, turns, and extensions while maintaining flawless posture.
	3.	Extension & Line Clarity โ€“ Developing length in the legs and feet for higher extensions, cleaner arabesques, and fully articulated tendus and dรฉveloppรฉs.
	4.	Fluidity & Artistry โ€“ Enhancing movement quality to create seamless transitions, expressive port de bras, and refined musicality.

This is more than just a technique classโ€”itโ€™s a deep dive into professional-level training to help dancers build strength, confidence, and artistry under the guidance of a seasoned choreographer with a proven record in elite dance education.

Learning Goals

I am a passionate and dedicated dance teacher, professional choreographer, musical theater choreographer, and artistic director with over 20 years of experience. I am also an elementary, ELA, and ELL teacher. Dance and education are the loves of my life!

In California I was the dance teacher at Lincoln High School-Magnet School for the Arts in San Jose. Prior to this, I was the head of a dance department at a performing arts academy in a high school in Northern Florida. I originated the dance department, and it was from my suggestion that my school became a Performing Arts Magnet Program. I was also the Head of the Lower School Dance Department at American Heritage School in South Florida, a top-tier private school. In addition, I served as the Artistic Director of the Lower School and Upper School Dance Companies.

I worked with master and iconic choreographers in New York. While teaching in New York, I was honored to serve as the Education Director of the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. This was Lar Lubovitchโ€™s 40th Anniversary year with performances at New York City Center, Jacobโ€™s Pillow, the Joyce Theater, and a national tour of 22 cities. Lar Lubovitch has been hailed by The New York Times as โ€œone of the ten best choreographers in the world.โ€

In New York I was chosen to be a guest choreographer at the Frank Sinatra School of
the Arts, the high school for the Performing Arts in Queens. โ€œNothingโ€™s Ever Promised
Tomorrow Todayโ€, my contemporary ballet, was premiered and performed. I was
honored to share the stage with ABT, Twyla Tharp, and Robert Battle. Robert
Battle was the Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

I have been fortunate to have taught dance at such places as Northwestern Universityโ€™s National High School Institute, Childrenโ€™s Musical Theater San Jose, Ballet Tech; Eliot Feldโ€™s School and Dance Company in New York, the 92nd Street Y-NYC the JCC of Manhattan choreographer of Teen Musical Theater, and Fordham High School for the Arts; high school for the performing arts in the Bronx.

I specialize in contemporary, jazz, ballet, and Broadway/Theater Dance. Because of my deep passion for the artform of dance, I have continued to study at Broadway Dance Center and STEPS on Broadway through the years. I aim to inspire my students every day. I bring much warmth, love, positive energy, and humor to all of my classes.

I have an M.Ed. in Elementary Education, a B.A. in Dance, and a B.A. in English. I am also certified in Dance, K-12 and Elementary Education in Massachusetts, Florida, California, and New Jersey. In addition, I studied Drama at the University of Southern California. I am so excited to work with your child at Outschool!
