In this baking class, students will learn math, science and reading instructions. Students may need supervision with equipment, stove and oven. The technique of baking from scratch will be more difficult but is very rewarding. We will learn how to read a recipe, baking terms and prepping. We will learn time management as we will prepare recipes. I think your avid baker will enjoy this challenge. In Class One: Bring your recipes, paper or notebook and pencil/pen. We will go over each recipe...
Students will learn to use math, reading and time management skills in this cooking class.
I love to bake and have sold/donated my cakes for many years. I cook the “grandma” recipes that taste great but may look more old fashioned to younger students. My grandmother taught me one of these recipes when I was young so it is very special to me. I taught my daughter to bake when she was little and taught cooking classes for young people as well. I love that we add in history, science and math in a hands-on class.
Share your new recipes with others and make a dessert for a special occasion. You will want to have your family gathered around for taste testing after your warm dessert class as it is best served warm with ice cream. Homework will be to show pictures of sharing your treats. Also, homework is clean up and dishes! Cleaning up is an important part of cooking.
