We will make round cookies rather than shapes in class, as this dough is softer than traditional gingerbread dough, but just as delicious! We will first introduce ourselves, wash our hands, and be sure everyone has the necessary ingredients. I will be baking along with the students, going step by step through the instructions. Adults are expected to be supervising the student as necessary and putting cookies in/out...
Students will learn how to bake vegan gingerbread cookies. They will receive the recipe so they can make them again and again with adult supervision.
I've been baking since I was three years old and creating delicious food is a true passion of mine. I look forward to sharing the joy of baking with you!
Students may need to complete baking after class ends. In this case, the teacher will explain final steps in detail so students can successfully finish their bakes.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will receive the full recipe once enrolled in my class. They will need all the cookie ingredients for baking during class: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, vegetable oil, sugar, molasses, non-dairy milk. They will also need access to basic kitchen supplies such as an oven, oven mitt, 2 cookie sheets, parchment paper or silicone baking mats, mixing spoon, 2 large bowls, whisk, measuring cups, cooling rack, and measuring spoons.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Adults should be supervising younger children as they bake (adults must be off-screen according to Outschool's policies). Students will prepare cookies in class and their adults are expected to use the oven to bake them. The adults assume all liability related to preparing the dough and baking.
