Baking oooey gooey chocolate chip cookies
Class experience
I will be teaching students how to make chocolate chip cookies and read a recipe card. Students will learn the different elements in a recipe such as ingredients, materials, and steps. Along with this, students will read about the origin of chocolate chip cookies and be able to answer questions correctly by comprehending what they've read. Class will start with a discussion about what they notice on a recipe card, then from there we will discuss the different components in a recipe card....
This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to name the origin of chocolate chip cookies using a nonfiction text, along with being able to bake chocolate chip cookies by reading a recipe card.
Materials: Baking sheet, mixed bowl, measuring cups, measuring spoons, whisk, parchment paper, tablespoon, cup, large spoon Ingredients: 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 -1/2 teaspoons cornstarch 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted & cooled 5 minutes 3/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk, at room temperature 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 1 -1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks

Students will be expected to use an oven to bake the cookies(but I will prompt them that an adult will have to help with this). Possible allergens to keep in mind with this recipe: Eggs; no nuts will be used in this recipe.
We will be using a nonfiction text that discusses the origin of chocolate chip cookies, as well as a recipe card that I made from my own recipe.
