We will be making fresh and delicious homemade bread. This will be done by following directions, measuring correctly, and having fun! Students will watch as I model the directions and then have a turn to follow. I will also be making lots of checks so no one gets left behind. We will talk about proper hygiene and the science of yeast. While we knead the dough we have discussions and get to know each other better. Students will learn a important life skill of bread making, ingredient measuring and following directions.
Eat the delicious home made bread!
Please have the following ingredients and supplies ready at the start of class: Ingredients List: 2-1/2 cups all purpose flour 3 Tbsp (tablespoon) white sugar 1 .25 package rapid rise yeast (2 1/4 tsp (teaspoon)) 1 cup warm water 3 Tbsp (tablespoon) olive oil or vegetable oil 1 1/2 tsp salt Supply List: 1 gallon size Ziplock bag 1 cup measuring cup Tablespoon 1 and 1/2 teaspoon Mini loaf pan or bread pan
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will need assistance Preheating the oven, and putting the bread in and out of the oven. Allergies to consider: Gluten
