In this class, students will learn the basics of baking and will make some of the best (healthy) brownies ever! And they're gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and vegan... but I promise, they're amazing!
Class experience
In this 50 minute class, students will have the opportunity to learn a life skill while having some fun baking... and the best part is they get to eat a yummy treat at the end! Your child will learn about measurements, and oven safety and other math and life skills, but they'll just think that they're baking brownies! 1 file available upon enrollmentAlthough I have given specific ingredients, please don't pre-measure the ingredients before class, just make sure that you have enough of each ingredient before class. Food Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups black beans (1 15-oz can, drained and rinsed very well) 2 tbsp cocoa powder 1/2 cup quick oats 1/4 tsp salt 1/3 cup pure maple syrup, honey, or agave 2 tbsp sugar 1/4 cup coconut or vegetable oil 2 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup to 2/3 cup chocolate chips Tools/Utensils: food processor (or blender, but the food processor works best) 8x8 pan measuring cups and measuring spoons spoon can opener oven spatula
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The use of an oven will be required. Please ensure that you are nearby to help put the brownies in the oven, as well as help taking them out if you don't feel comfortable with your child doing it.
