Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this course, students will practice adding and subtracting decimals as well as multiplying and dividing decimals to solve problems and figure out solutions to apply to a recipe. Each week a lesson on how to add/subtract/multiply/divide decimals will be uploaded via video for students to practice. Then students will receive a recipe with the mystery amounts of each ingredient. Students must solve the math problems to unlock the amount of each ingredient to add. Students will have to "check their work" by making the recipe and ensuring it tastes good!

Baking Recipes by week:
Week 1: Monster Cookies
Week 2: Homemade Ice Cream
Week 3: Cinnamon Roll Cake
Week 4: Homemade Brownies
Week 5: Create your own recipe and math problems to solve and share it with other students to try

Weekly Classroom Interaction -
- The teacher will post weekly videos explaining fraction concepts. Lessons will be uploaded on Sunday evenings Eastern time, and students have the week to complete their projects, upload results, and respond to discussion questions.
-- The teacher will be available to answer questions or respond to posts within 24 hours of posting.
- The teacher will upload a recipe with math problems for students to solve. Students should solve the problems and then try out the recipe. Students should upload their findings of the recipe to the classroom, photos of their final product, and a brief review of what they think of the recipe of the week. Students are encouraged to interact with one another by sharing ideas and baking tips with other students.
- In the last week of class, students will share their favorite recipe and other students will select one of the recipes shared. Students will practice doubling this recipe and then share what they thought with others.
- The teacher will also try out some of the recipes shared and give her thoughts.
