1 hour per week. They will need to have 2-8” or 2-6” round baked cakes at the start of the class. They could use a box cake mix and follow those directions or they could use their favorite cake recipe. They will need to have their buttercream icing ready at start of class. Recipe will be provided 1-3 day before class the class is due to start.Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
This is an intermediate class. Some knowledge in how to fill their piping bags. We go over holding and positioning the piping bag and what piping tips to achieve the desired vintage design. Learners will make the perfect buttercream for their trendy vintage cake. They will learn the fundamentals to assemble it, to set that perfect foundation. We will go over the importance to leveling their cake. Filling it with a jam filling or the delicious buttercream they will make. We will go over the icing colors to achieve the vintage look with one two colors.
Learning Goals
They will learn the importance of having a level foundation to stacking/ torting a cake. They will learn the importance in having their powdered sugar sifted to achieve the perfect scrumptious buttercream to decorate a vintage cake.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Younger children may need help turning on oven and removing hot baked cakes from the oven.
If torting their cake with a serrated knife they may need help.
Pre-Requisites
Know how to bake a boxed or from scratch cake mix. Make buttercream icing with recipe given 1-2 days before class starts.
