Class Experience
Ingredients: Learners should start the week with approximately: 5 pounds of Flour 3 pounds of Sugar 3 pounds of Butter 3 dozen Eggs ___________________________________________________ Other ingredients used, in relatively small amounts: Powdered sugar Baking Soda Baking Powder Instant Yeast Milk Lemon juice Vanilla extract Salt Oil Choice of scone mix-in (chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruit,etc.) Additional Supplies: Large and small mixing bowls Whisk Rubber spatula Pastry brush Measuring cups and spoons Food handling gloves Parchment paper Baking spray Loaf pan Mini-muffin tin (full sized is OK) Baking sheet 8x8 baking dish
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
4 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be baking in a hot oven. I recommend that an adult put the items into the oven and remove them. Some items may be removed from the oven after class ends or - in the case of yeasted bread - baked later in the day after they have risen.
