In "Bakers Gonna Bake: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies!", students will practice basic math skills such as counting, weighing, measuring, tracking time; they also gain social skills by working together and communicating in the kitchen, as well as teaching responsibility. As an elementary teacher for more than ten years who holds a degree in early childhood education, I've mastered the art of making learning fun! My goal is to bring books to life through play based learning.
**Please note that we will be making the dough in class, but the dough will then need to chill for one hour before baking.** After the dough has chilled for one hour: Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for approximately 10 minutes or until lightly brown and firm. INGREDIENTS: 1 cup canned pumpkin (not pie filling) 1 cup white sugar ½ cup vegetable oil 1 egg 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon milk 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips spray/oil/butter for cookie sheet Also needed: mixing bowl whisk measuring cups measuring spoons cookie sheet
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please note that active parent/guardian supervision is suggested for the baking portion of class.
