Description
Class Experience
Students will learn baking skills, baking science, and social skills.
Baking is my favorite hobby, and I love sharing it with others. As a certified child life specialist, I am trained in providing developmentally appropriate education on a wide variety of topics. Additionally, I have taught multiple one-time baking classes on Outschool and have decided to now offer this class as a more comprehensive class on baking skills. I'm excited to have you learn with me!
There is no formal homework, but some parts of different baking projects will take place outside of class time. For example, for week 8, the tart dough will be prepared before class using techniques learned the previous week. Students are encouraged to communicate with the teacher about any issues they face with completing activities outside of class time.
A few days before each session, a list of supplies and ingredients will be posted to the classroom. If you cannot find any of the supplies or ingredients listed, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can help you find substitutions. *Note: Due to current problems finding ingredients, please message me for a full list of supplies and ingredients needed. I will also be more than happy to work with you on finding substitutes for anything you cannot find at this time.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be using kitchen utensils and appliances, including knives and ovens, so parents are encouraged to supervise as needed. Additionally, recipes will generally contain allergens, including wheat, dairy, and eggs. If your child has any allergies or other dietary restrictions, please contact me before the first class session so that I can modify recipes as needed for your child.
