This summer camp is the perfect combination of fun and learning for kids and teenagers who love to or are interested in baking. In this Bake Sale Summer Camp, students will learn how to make three baked goods from scratch: homemade banana bread, ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies, and refreshing lemon bars. I've been baking all my life and love to make the perfect recipes from scratch for my friends and family. I also own a successful business, which makes me confident in my ability to pass on the entrepreneurial skills that I have learned over the years.
Students will be provided with copies of each recipe, as well as hand outs on cost analysis and profit margin. Students will likely have most of the items needed for this camp already in their own home. However, you may need to purchase a few ingredients. Below is the list of items necessary for students to have for this camp: Each day of camp: -Two mixing bowls, mixing spoons, measuring cups, measuring spoons, hand mixer (optional), paper, pencil, calculator Day 1 of camp: -2 cups flour -1 teaspoon baking soda -1/4 teaspoon salt -1 egg -1 1/8 cup sugar -1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil -2 tablespoons milk -1/2 teaspoon vanilla -3 very ripe bananas -1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional) -non-stick spray -mini loaf pan or cupcake pan Day 2 of camp: -2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour -1 teaspoon baking soda -1 teaspoon salt -1 cup butter, softened -3/4 cup granulated sugar -3/4 cup packed brown sugar -1 teaspoon vanilla extract -2 large eggs -2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips -1 cup chopped nuts (optional) -baking sheet -foil Day 3 of camp: -1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature -1/2 cup granulated sugar -2 cups all-purpose flour -4 large eggs, room temperature -1 1/2 cups granulated sugar -1/4 cup all-purpose flour -5 or 6 lemons -9x13 pan -non-stick spray
