Bake-O-Rama: Easy Pumpkin Bread
Class experience
In this class, we will bake a pumpkin quick bread. This will be an interactive class and students will be expected to make the bread along with me. If there are food allergies (nuts for example) feel free to just omit the item from the recipe. If you are unsure if you can omit an item, please let me know. Breads may not be completely baked by the end of class, but students will know what the finished products will look like and how to test for doneness. I will be available after class to...
Students will become confident in their baking skills, reading recipes, altering recipes, and measurements. They will learn how to use a variety of kitchen equipment and become comfortable in the kitchen. This will be a fun class with delicious results!
I have a degree in culinary arts, specifically pastry arts. I have been baking since I was very little and I bake every day.
1 file available upon enrollmentA printable supply list is available with the welcome post as well. Pumpkin Bread Supply List Ingredients: • Pumpkin puree • Vegetable oil • Brown sugar • Eggs • Vanilla • Flour • White sugar • Baking powder • Pumpkin spice or cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cloves • Salt • Cream cheese • milk Supplies: • Stand mixer (not required, a hand mixer will do just fine) o Need a large bowl if using a hand mixer • Baking tins (large or small, whichever you prefer) • Baker’s Joy non-stick cooking spray (best choice but can use others or nothing at all if your pan is non-stick) • Mixing spoon • Measuring cups (both liquid and dry) • Measuring spoons • Small bowls (cereal size or smaller) • Hot pads • Rubber spatula • Cooling rack or parchment paper to set the hot bread on once it comes out of the oven • Cream Cheese: Whisk 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 3 tablespoons softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons milk and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be required to have the necessary ingredients, cooking utensils, and supplies in order to make the breads. There will be nothing exotic in these recipes. You will probably have most of these items in your pantry already and only need to pick up a few items in the grocery store. Most students should not need guidance. Please make sure that your learner knows how to use the oven, the stove, and any other equipment used in the class. I will use my stand mixer, but it is not required.
