Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
This class is a great opportunity for learners to add to their cooking repertoire and also increase their knowledge and understanding of the ingredients going into their recipes.
As host of a cooking club for 3 years in my home, I provided opportunities for a group of 15 youth to learn all about kitchen basics, while exploring world cuisine, regional cuisine, and fandom cuisine. I tested recipes, planned menus and fun activities to use at our monthly meetings. I am also a credentialed multiple subject classroom teacher as well as a veteran homeschool mom of 3 high school graduates.
The weekly cooking assignment should take about 1 1/2 hours to complete. It is expected that learners will post their completed recipes on the classroom page after each weekly session.
Ingredient list will be provided one week before class begins.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Although cooking is such a fun activity for learners, it always has inherent dangers such as the handling of knives, operating hot appliances, spillage and such. Supervision in the kitchen is expected at all times, and the younger students will need more assistance in this class. I have created a "Safety in the Kitchen" slideshow which will be posted on the classroom page and is required to watch before the cooking demonstrations. Also, please be aware that the common allergens of milk, eggs and wheat are used in some of the recipes.
