Students will use math in a real world way to measure ingredients. They will learn to bake a homemade dessert treat by following a recipe.
I have experience as a 6th grade teacher and I work well with students in this 9-12 age range. I love to bake and love sharing this family recipe with others.

Students will need to use several ingredients, a workspace conducive for baking, and a preheated oven (350 degrees) for this class. SAFETY NOTE: Please note that while no knives are needed for this lesson, students will be using a microwave and an oven- please make sure they have pot holders or oven mitts to protect their hands when pulling the hot tray out of the oven. If you don't feel comfortable letting them pull the tray out themselves, please be able to do this for them. No peanut products will be used in making this product, but some of the ingredients might have been made in a facility where peanuts were present so be sure to check labels on ingredients if your child has an allergy.
