Bake a Dog Birthday Cake
In this one time class, we will learn how to bake a cake for our furry pet with safe, delicious ingredients.

1. The students will be given a primary recipe that can be modified as they prefer. Through discussion, they will learn what ingredients are safe for dogs to eat and can be added per their dog's taste preferences, we will also discuss ingredients that should not be added (such as chocolate). The students will learn some safe substitution options and healthy ingredients. The students will learn how to make a cake through text, video demonstrations, and pictures. 2. The students will have an opportunity to briefly introduce their dogs (or other pets). This will give each child who wishes a chance to practice social engagement skills with other children and the teacher. The students will learn through mutual discussion. The teacher will also introduce a dog to the class. 3. Math skills will also be learned and reviewed through ingredient measurement. We will briefly discuss half/whole/one third/one fourth as an introduction to or review of fractions. The students will learn through visual demonstration.
Learning Goals
The students will learn what foods/ingredients are safe to fee our dogs. The students will be able to make their own dog (birthday) cake with the help of an adult, and enjoy watching their pet eat it!

No materials are needed for the class. The students will be sent the class slides including the recipe and optional add-ins following the class.
