Mary, Mary, quite contrary How does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockleshells And pretty maids all in a row! Learners will explore how their backyard garden is growing and create a unique bouquet placed in their cardboard crafted flower pot. Mother Goose (me!) loves plants and flowers and will lead your child in this fun, easy and unique craft. Please be sure to check the supplies list. All of the items are easily found around your home and yard, but the students will need what...
* Empty Cereal box * Ball point pen * Markers, crayons or colored pencils * Freshly picked flowers and greenery on the stems (Please see the class photo as an example) Learners will need an empty cereal box. They will only need either the front or the back of the cereal box and parents are welcome to cut it out before the class into a rectangle for them. Feel free to give them both sides in case they make a mistake and want to start over. The ball point pen or other object will be used to poke holes through the box without too much effort. Please do not allow them to use a knife or even a pair of scissors for this part. A ball point pen, or a small phillips head screw driver both work well. This craft is designed to use things found around your home inside and out. The flowers need to be freshly picked before class starts and can be anything they can find right around their yard. Dandelions, clovers, any flowers you give permission to pick and some greens. Please encourage them to pick with a long stem and if needed, supervise to be sure they are not picking poison ivy or anything else you do not want them to pick.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
