40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Learners will know what osmosis is and be given examples of why it is important in nature. They will perform a hands-on experiment demonstrating osmosis while using a scientific method worksheet (provided) to record their process and findings. The class will begin with an explanation of osmosis while learners participate in a friendly competition to earn gummy bears by answering questions correctly. We will then set up our experiment together in class while filling in part of our scientific method worksheet. Learners will be asked simple questions throughout the class to demonstrate understanding, but they do not need to have any experience with this topic in order to thrive in this class! I am looking forward to exploring osmosis with your learner!
Learning Goals
Learners will know the definition of osmosis and the role of solutes and solvents. They will also learn the three types of osmotic solutions. Learners will gain experience using the scientific method by filling out a worksheet while performing an osmosis experiment using gummy bears.
