Description
Class Experience
Learners will know the definition of osmosis and the role of solutes and solvents. They will also learn the three types of osmotic solutions. Learners will gain experience using the scientific method by filling out a worksheet while performing an osmosis experiment using gummy bears.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology and a passion for all things life science. I have worked professionally in both a microbiology lab and an environmental lab.
Learners will observe the results of their experiment after 8 hours have passed (or overnight). Learners can complete their scientific method worksheet after observing the results.
1 file available upon enrollment- One-page scientific method worksheet (provided) - Pencil - Materials for the experiment: 3 clear cups, 3 gummy bears (same color), 1 cup cold water, 1 tsp. salt, stirring stick or fork, marker, measuring cup, refrigerator
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners may need help transporting their cups to the refrigerator if they are younger.
