In this ongoing class, learners will explore a new biology question each week while doing fun experiments and hands-on activities.
Class experience
Do you have a learner who loves plants and animals and is always asking questions about the natural world around them? If so, come join us for Backyard Biology as we explore the amazing world of plants and animals! Each week, we will ask and answer one biology question, rotating between a plant topic and an animal topic. Learners will also complete a fun hands-on activity paired with each class; some weeks we will do simple experiments using household items and other weeks we will do crafts...
Learners will be able to provide an answer to each week's question and will solidify their understanding of the material by completing a hands-on activity.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology and a passion for all things life science. I have worked professionally in both a microbiology lab and an environmental lab.
As the materials for each class will vary, a supply list will be sent the week before class. Most all materials will be common household items.
Younger learners may require brief help from an adult when setting up experiments or activities. Lessons will be taught from a shared screen using Canva slides. Learners do NOT need to have a Canva account.
