How lives behind the blue house on Hollow Tree Lane? In this one-time class we will help a cute chipmunk prepare for winter hibernation. Your student will listen to excerpts from the story "Chipmunk on Hollow Tree Lane" from the Smithsonian's Backyard series. First we will learn about identifying chipmunks. Then we will read about chipmunks and will play "I Spy" with nature illustrations. Your student will learn the vocabulary words; chipmunk, burrow, acorn, pouch, and hibernation. We...
Students will learn about chipmunks, burrows, hibernation, and will identify multiple plant/animals.
Your student will be provided with an optional worksheet where they can help chipmunk prepare a burrow to complete using what they learned during class. This worksheet can be completed after class if your student is interested. We will be working together as a class to complete a digital burrow.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
