Class Experience
What is fluency and how can Reader's Theater help your child? Fluency is the ability to read connected text rapidly, smoothly, and with automaticity. Skilled readers are fluent readers- they group words together quickly to gain the meaning of the passage. Skilled readers read effortlessly and with lots of expression. Further, their reading sounds as natural as if they were talking. Skilled readers focus less on decoding words, and more on the meaning behind the words. Reader's Theater is...
Students will use Reader's Theater to increase their fluency skills while reading a script based on several popular children's books.
The learners will be informally assessed through observation of the performance.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
